Oregon Coast Family Photos
Oregon Coast Family Photos | Mel + Alec
We were thrilled to photograph my sister Melissa’s maternity session at Manzanita, Oregon, one of the most scenic spots on the Oregon Coast. Planning a shoot here is always an adventure, thanks to the unpredictable weather. Luckily, we were graced with a stunning sunset that added a magical touch to the images. It was a bit breezy, but the entire family embraced the wind, making for some truly memorable and authentic moments.
One of my favorite highlights was capturing the kids splashing in the water—this playful scene reminded me of my own childhood spent at the beach. It’s clear that Kylie has inherited our family’s love of the ocean, just like her aunt Amber! If you’re looking for dreamy coastal maternity photos, Manzanita’s golden shores offer the perfect setting for a session you’ll cherish forever.
When planning your Oregon Coast session a few things to remember are:
The weather Is very unpredictable, no matter what time of year it is. We have had sessions in winter that are sunny and 65 and sessions in summer that are rainy and 50 with a ton of wind.
Make sure you arrive early for sunset photos as the walk out to the ocean can take 10-15 minutes before you find the perfect spot.
When you arrive at the location you choose, it could seem fine when you get out of the car but be very windy down by the water.
Make sure you bring extra clothes if you want to get into the water for some of your photos. You should plan to do those photos last.
Wear sandals while walking out to the ocean as the sand can be hot, then take them off to get photos on the harder sand and in the water.
If you have small children and/or pets, have another adult come to help keep an eye on them so you can enjoy the session. Also bring treats for the dogs so they will have a great experience.
Make sure everyone goes to the restroom before walking down to the water.
