Laurelhurst Park is a city park in the neighborhood of Laurelhurst in Portland, Oregon. The park is over 20 acres and is popular spot for picnics, walking, jogging, and birdwatching. It is also a popular location for community events, such as outdoor concerts and movies in the park during the summer months. Laurelhurst Park is know for its beautiful trees, creative naturalistic landscape design that was designed over 100 years ago by the Olmsted Brothers, who also designed Central Park in New York City. The park includes a large pond, a playground, basketball, tennis courts, a soccer field, and a dog off-leash area. This park is perfect for family sessions to couple sessions. We love this location for taking engagement images as you can really photograph at any time of the day in this park with all the beautiful trees.

Michelle and Tate wanted to wonder around the park and get some cute and fun engagement photos. It was a great experience as we got to know them better and talk about their wedding the following summer. We love it when clients get engagement photos with us as it gives them a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and we all get to know each other better. And the best part is on your wedding day you will have that leg up and be much more comfortable. As you can tell we love Laurelhurst Park and is a beautiful location for engagement photos in Portland, Oregon.

Here are 3 tips for planning your engagement photo shoot here:

1. Wear clothing that complements the park's natural surroundings. Make sure you pick something you feel comfortable and confidant in, as that is the most important part.

2. Explore the different areas of the park. Laurelhurst Park has a lot of great photo opportunities, from the pond and fountain to the tree-lined paths to the brick stairs.

3. Bring props to add some personality to your photos. This could be anything from a banner with your wedding date (for those save the date cards) to your pets. Adding props can make your photos more unique and personal.
