Tips for Couple Photos for Fun People

Lloyd & Amanda got married at Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland, Washington which is 30 minutes from Portland, Oregon. They were such an amazing and fun couple. It was a very hot day but the reception was inside so they could do the ceremony and go right back inside until couple sunset photos when it had cooled down. One of our favorite memories from this wedding is when Lloyd and Amanda raced golf carts down by the river. They had so many personal touches that made this wedding very special!  We really loved how they had so many cute DIY decor such as half the ceremony site flowers and plants they grew and brought from home which then got moved to the reception area. The cake was made by a family friend. Lloyds sister was the officiant which added that special touch. They also did their own decor signs and table centerpieces.

Lewis River Golf Course Clubhouse was constructed using a rustic NW theme which features logs, river rock and hand forged iron accents throughout. The combination of indoor and outdoor event sites and our close proximity to the Portland/Vancouver Metro make Lewis River Golf Course a perfect choice for special events of all kinds from corporate outings and workshops to reunions, banquets, weddings and receptions.

Jansen Floral Effects did the brides flowers, cake flowers, sign flowers and the large vases at the ceremony site. We highly recommend all the wedding vendors as they were easy to work with and had great customer service.

6 Tips for Capturing Awesome Couple Photos

1. Embrace the Sunset

There’s something extra magical about photographing couples against a sunset backdrop. If you can, plan your photoshoot around golden hour for that warm, dreamy glow.

2. Wait Until After the Ceremony

You’ll both be far more relaxed once the ceremony is over. By then, the nerves have settled, and your excitement really shines through in the photos.

3. Give Yourselves Enough Time

Aim for at least 30–45 minutes for couple portraits. That way, you can explore different locations and get creative without feeling rushed—though we know you’ll want to get back to the celebration!

4. Be Playful

Don’t be afraid to get a little silly. Laugh, make funny faces, and snort if you must! Genuine joy and spontaneous moments make for unforgettable photos.

5. Ease Up on the Drinks

While a drink or two can help you loosen up, going overboard will show in your photos. Keep it fun and light so you look your best on camera.

6. Enjoy the Moment

Ultimately, the best photos happen when you’re having a blast. Let the love and excitement you’re feeling shine through in every shot!
