Mt. Hood always is an adventure when getting photos. It can be 20 degrees and icy or 60 degree and sunny in spring. We got really lucky with Austin & Emily as it was almost 60 degrees and sunny during their engagement session. We went up to Mt. Hood near Government Camp, Oregon to capture this fun adventure.
Getting fun snow photos can be a challenge. But if you stick to the snow line where the snow is shallow, you won’t be wet and tired by the time you find a spot. In finding a spot staying in the trees can really help with the cold. Also going up the mountain on a Monday though Thursday means less people and thus more spots to work with. Another tip is dressing warmer then you think you need to, especially if you haven’t been in the snow for a while. Layering is a great way to incorporate a lighter outfit, while also getting multiple looks, and… you don’t get cold. We recommend something nice and warm like a blanket that isn’t too cumbersome taking on and off to or carrying around. Next thing is foot wear: it’s vital to your health! So leave the high heals at home and find some cute boots, but you know not gogo boots. Your engagement session is not a time to twist your ankle. And the last thing is hand warmers, they really make a difference for your hands and feet.
Austin & Emily are a really fun and down to earth couple whose personalities shone threw this whole session. It was great working with them to get fun images that they can treasure for a lifetime. We talked about D&D (Dungeons & Dragons, which Eric has been on me for a while to learn so we can get a group together), cars, rings and jobs we all had in our younger years. We cant wait to capture their magical day and eat some yummy food.
